Filling bumper licence plate holes.
So i filled up the holes in the front bumper from license plate mount. There were about 4 holes.
The original holes. ![]() Started by sanding it down with 60 grit sand paper on the bigger holesand then 600 grit for the smaller one. Then use 1500 grit to sand everything around the holes to blend the clear coat better. ![]() Then used Bondo filling putty to fill up the holes. Then sanded down with 600 grit. ![]() Began the first coat of primer(waited 5-10 min then put next coat) ![]() Then it was the 3rd coat of primer (waited 30 min then applied first coat of base paint) ![]() Followed up with about 3-4 coats of base paint (black sapphire metallic) ![]() After few hours then applied about 3 coats of clear coat (waited about 5-10 min in between) ![]() Finished off by compounding n polishing it a little, and gave it a light washed. ![]() Last edited by K888888; 09-30-2013 at 08:28 PM.. |

Looks decent... But I think I still see the outline of the plate on the outsides? And a little bit of where the hole was? Or is it just me?

I think you need to wetsand it again. There is a TON of orange peel there now.

Yeah. Im no wet-sanding expert, but try 2k then 3k paper then Menzerna FG400 followed by SF4500. You might even need to properly re-paint it again or re-clear it at least. Im OCD about car paint, but if it doesn't bother you just try to lightly wet-sand it then compound/polish it again.

try 3k and see if it levels out the peel. 1500 is a little agressive to be using twice.
