manual trans oil change question
My car is CPO so I am going to stick with the BMW transmission oil. Is there any reason I should not buy the oil and have a competent Oil change place replace drain and fill for me?
thanks... |

Simple JOB
You are right -- changing the MT oil is simple -- drain and fill until fluid starts weeping out of the drain hole while car is level. I used MTL-3 OEM oil myself and it was expensive. Most recommend to change every 50k if you plan to keep the car post 100k - long term. If not -- it should be fine for at least 100k.

I'm just over 50k now and I drive a lot so it will have around 150k when I pass it down to my son when he turns 16. I guess I'll buy the big container of oil from the dealer and that should cover me for a few changes.

Just remember to remove the fill plugs first before you remove the drain one xD
