Hi!

New to BMW and to this site. Bought an 08 328XI 72k from a friend. I like it! So, hello! Please let me know your thoughts.

Last Friday I did the first round of maintenance. Dropped trans pan and replaced filter. Filled with Dex VI fluid. Old fluid was in good shape, still bright red and the pan was clean with very little on the magnet.

Changed out the rear diff - fluid was dark and used but nothing abnormal. Went M1 75-90.

Changed out the front diff - fluid looked new (never was serviced in the past). Went M1 75-90.

Changed out the transfer case - fluid looked great. Went with BMW fluid for that one!

Changed oil with M1 0-40 and a MANN filter.

Are the MANN filters good quality? Or are you guys running others?

Next phase will be water pump and everything that goes with it. BMW fluid for sure as I don't want to shrink any seals and end up with leaks. Usual to do thermostat and any hoses at this time????

Thanks in advance for the help. A lot to learn about the BMW's.

Thank you. What filter do you use? I like Puralator 1, Mobil 1, and Bosch long distance myself for other vehicles.

I use the BMW OEM oil filters or the Mann - Mann is the OEM Mfg of the BMW oil filters. BMW simply rebrands them & sells for more $$

When I did my waterpump and t-stat I didn't do the hoses. They still looked great with no noticeable deterioration to the rubber.
