Headlight Aiming/Height
Hey Guys,
So on the 2011 335i Sedan I bought last week I've noticed the driver's side headlight is aimed higher than the passenger - based primarily from being behind people and pulling into a parking spot in my garage. From my experience with headlights like this, the driver's side should be lower than the passenger so to not blind oncoming traffic. I tried to make a responsible slope angle and height but I've read differing information on what the correct height should be. Could anyone elaborate on this a bit for me? I do a lot of late night highway driving coming home from work and don't want my lowbeams aimed to high and get pulled over by some cop thinking I have my high beams on, but at the same time I don't want them pointed at the ground. I've read they should be the same height as the headlight, if not a tad lower from 25ft, but I was hoping for some more complete information. Is there a standard from a BMW shop manual that I should reference? Basically want optimal lighting for driving through the city at night and coming home from work in the wee hours/2AM right at bar close and don't want to be hassled coming from my 10hr boring work day and get confused for some drunk driving with highbeams on - but I also don't want to plow into a deer that I can't see! Thanks a lot guys! -Mike |
