Exclamation BMW powertrain warranty 6 year 100k miles for 335i!!

My cousin is the general manager at BMW of Sudbury in MA and I called him today to ask about getting an inexpensive warranty for my 335i. I didnt know they had a warranty like this (powertrain only)through bmw. I guess they just started it. This is exactly what I was looking for as I dont have 3000.00 plus laying around and I also think the powertain warranty is the most important part for protection.

Now to the shocking part (IMO atleast). He said he can give it to me for their cost obviously because we are pretty much like brothers. So for a full powertain warranty for 6 years total up to 100k miles is going to cost me 1520.00!!! Im so excited and will be purchasing it next week. Even the msrp is only 2190.00. I think thats what he said anyway.

Now I can keep my 335i for a long time with the peace of mind of knowing turbos, piezo injectors, diff, driveshafts, tranny, etc, etc are fully covered. especially knowing how much this stuff can cost. I was afraid I wouldnt be able to get any kind of extended warranty for the car because of the very high cost so this definitely made my day.Now I hope everything else holds up well but Im very happy with powertrain only.

just wanted to let everyone know this warranty is available for a lot cheaper than the full extended warranty.

bump for those of you who are in the market for warranty to check out new options. you can get this one up to 50k miles. after 45k miles you cant get the more comprehensive warranties.

That is a fantastic deal on a extended warranty, specially from BMW. I normally tell people to just take the money that your would have put down on the warranty and save it so that they would have it if they had a problem in the future but this deal is so good that that would be dumb.

I was VERY pleasantly surprised. It took a huge weight off my shoulders as far as getting as much stuff fixed as possible before the warranty is up.

This is definitely a steal for the 335i but it depends on how often they want to deny warranty repairs.

Warranty wise, I was quoted something like $4k for the E60. Almost cost the same to get rid of the car and buy another one with less mileage, LOL.

That is the sad truth of warranties. What did you end up doing?

When BMW denied a quality issue regarding the rubber window trim, I walked over to the wholesale parts counter to buy another one and did a self-install... 40bux.

For the E60, there are aftermarket warranties for about half the price (friends have successfully purchased and used them in the past). But if dealer doesn't accept it, I don't think anyone can repair the complex electronics (think idrive, active steering). I'm about ready to sell the E60. Once the new ones are hitting the mainstream news, the value of the E60 will start tanking.

You have to be the original owner though, right?

I believe this is a new deal from BMW where you can get a CPO type of plan
even if you are not the original owner as long as the car is under 45k miles.
The plans are not inexpensive at 3.5k for a 6/100k, but better than not having the option at all.

this plan is powertrain only and I am the original owner. I have 47500 miles on the car now and I have up to 50k to purchase it. There are new plans for people who arent the original owner now.

Thanks. I just called the business manager of a dealer that I had tried to purchase the '2OP' program a couple of years ago but was denied since I wasn't the original owner and she said that BMW is working on a new warranty for non original owners but they havent finalized it yet. She said the issue is that they are worried it may some how cause the CPO program to lose sales. She expects the new warranty to happen in the near future though.

If you heard any different or have another contact who may be able to help please let me know.
