Driver's Side Mirror Not Automatically Tilting in Reverse

This problem has me stumped.

My driver's side mirror on my '06 E90 (330i) does not automatically tilt when I shift into reverse regardless of the position of the mirror selector on the door. However, the passenger mirror does auto-tilt when the switch is in the left position.

I originally guessed the motor is broken, but that isn't possible since I have no problem adjusting the mirror manually with the directional arrow pad.

How should I go about diagnosing this issue? Could it be a problem with coding?

The drivers side mirror isn't supposed to tilt down in reverse. Only the passenger side mirror does.

+1 this feature is so you can see the rear wheel when your parallel parking. You shouldn't need the drivers side to tilt.
