0W40 for only $5.29

I am geting ready for my first oil change ... I already have a little bit over 100 miles on my car since last friday

Anyway ... if you are looking for 0W40 fom M1 you can get it at Kragen for only $5.29+tax ... The OEM BMW Oil filter you can get here on the forum for only $7.50

... So , oil change can cost you around $50 only and not 175 like BMW told me ... I hope it helps ...

A little over 100mi or did you mean 1000mi?

U do know that $175 includes labor right? How are u going to dispose of the old oil? I wonder what the typically runs?

I don't know what the going rate is in Cali, but $175 is very expensive. My dealer charges ~$80 for parts and labor.

Free to dispose of used oil here. Check your local recycle centers. Here there are multiple places to drop off the oil.

I am not letting the dealer touch my car unless abolutley needed. They seem to do nice damage to interior and exterior pieces of the car.

All Kragens will take used oil for free. That is their typical price for M1 oil. Walmart and Target may have it cheaper every once in a while...

Yup most tires shops in New York are now recieving used oil for recycling!

werd ... i would love to spend 30 min and do it myself instead of taking it to the dealer ...

One time i had low oil level on my gf's 325ci and i took it to BMW SF ... and guess what ... after I came home I decided to check oil level ... they did some soft upgrade and didn't put any oil at all ... After that I decided to add oil myself and forget about them ...

well , places that charge 29.99 for oil change also include labor/oil/filter and oil disposal ...

just because you drive BMW you don't have to pay 175 ...

I think you'd be fine to run the oil longer. 100 miles is probably overkill but do it if you want. I went to 1100 miles but only because that's when I had time, and it was probably still a little overkill.
