Ok to leave Ipod or memory stick plugged in?

I was wondering if it was ok to leave my memory stick or Ipod pluged into the aux in USB socket?

I just don't want any drain on the battery.

Also is there a way to safely eject an ipod of memory stick besides just pulling it out?

Mine is plugged in 24/7 I have never ever had a problem at all

Wont have problems with the memory stick being in there all the time. since my iPod is always plugged in to my car when I take it out the battery does drain a lot faster.
