quick headlight question.

I recently just replaced my halo light with a lux h8. And for some reason I got curious about the light where the arrow is pointed at. I'm not sure if it's a DRL or what. Some said DRL is just the ring but some said the arrow pointed light is a DRL. I'm not sure. And I haven't got any warning light after I replaced the lux h8.
Oh by the way my car is an 09 e92 335i with a navigation.
Please correct me with this

I believe is when u turn left or right it turns on when u are turning to whatever side u are going
