Do I need a charge pipe for a blow off valve
I have been away from my car and the forums for months. I am going to get back and order a blow off valve will I need to get a charge pipe for it to work? Sorry it sounds like a dumb question.

Not necessarily but it is a good idea. At higher boost levels the plastic charge pipe can crack. You can buy adapters to run different blow off valves on the stock charge pipe if you decide to go that way.

If your messing with the BOV/DV I would take the time and money to upgrade to a metal charge pipe. like ^ said after time the plastic has tendency to crack.

Best bet is to upgrade like other said. Plus, it'll give you that piece of mind that if you go back to stock to sell someday, that you will have an intact factory cp sitting around to go back on.

This is the one I plan to get... would I need to upgrade further? or does everything it comes with do the job effectively, all I have for performance mods is an access port stage 1.

The AA kit is nice and sounds great. You should be able to find a used on in the 300 range. I would consider a couple things when picking out a charge pipe/bov. First what intake setup will you be running (dci anything should fit). Second I would get a meth bung if there is an option. It is easy to plug if you every want to run meth down the road and easier to sell.

For the peace of mind I would run an ER CP with a Tial or Synapse BOV. The stock CP is a potential failure point and running an aftermarket CP makes it easier to run meth when ordered with bungs.
However, if you're dead set on sticking to the stock CP Helix sells an adapter kit. |

Great deals on ER CP right now for pre black friday.
Technically you can run a BOV on the stock pipe but it's not worth the potential boost leaks and ghetto rigging. You will need an adapter for which style BOV you want and you need to somehow plug off one of the DV holes. You will always have the risk of cracking your stock charge pipe cause it's plastic though, especially on tuned/high boost cars. |
