This is my third vehicle that had tint. My first had 25% all around. My second/last vehicle had 35% Suntek Carbon all around. For years I have told myself that my next vehicle I get, I am going to go a bit darker. Probably 20%. The legal limit in my state is 32% +/- 2%. The installer told me that BMW factory windows are actually lighter than most. He metered it before tint and it was 80 something (did a honda and mazda and it was 70s).

I really really wanted 20% BUT I don't think it is worth me getting pulled over especially since it is a misdemeaner in my state. I also didn't want my vision to be reduced at night. Plus my better half told me that 20% made BMWs look cheap. So I went with 35% all doors and 20% on rear. It looks a bit lighter than my last vehicle that had 35% Suntek Carbon but I believe this is because BMW factory tint is lighter and the tint they put on actually is has 37% VLT.

It looks classy though. The installer was aware of BMWs having scratch problems BUT he was the only one that said he would replace for free if it does scratch. He looked at it and thinks it won't scratch. He told me that he hasn't had many BMWs that he tinted scratch but he has had some Acuras and Hondas. Idk if I should get those tintprotectors since the installer said he will replace and put moleskin on for free if it scratches.
