Can I get your opinions on a car please guys
Hi all,
Still on my hunt for the perfect E91, I have seen this one for sale for a while for £7491 Black 320d Touring I would like to get your opinions and if possible, a couple of questions answered. Am I right in assuming this car would't have the auto start/stop feature? It has Nav but you can't see the I-Drive controller. Being a 2008 car, would this have the older (original) style I-drive or would it have the newer system with the updated controller? So would this be comptible with my iPod/iPhone etc. Any help would be brilliant ![]() Thanks in advance! Last edited by CapnCook; 11-26-2013 at 06:10 PM.. |

Should have stop/start. It will be the older style Nav and controller as the new one was introduced with the LCI model in 2009. iPod connectivity would depend on the options ordered at the time, it wasn't standard fit. If ordered, it will have a USB port in the centre console storage.
It looks a nice enough example but if it was me I'd be looking for an LCI model, you only need a car 6-12 months newer for that. Depends on your budget of course. Good luck |

My opinion is dont buy a 20d touring. Honestly. A friend has onr and its noticibly quicker than a coupe or saloon. We got embarrassed off a set of lights by a girl in a twin air fiat 500. I know you may not want performance, but usablity is essential and the 20d just isnt. I borrowed it to go to work a few weeks back and was almost unable to get onto a round about without getting hit as its 0-20 time was excruciatingly slow.

Thanks for the input Chris,
I really would like an LCI, you might have seen in my previous thread that the one I'm currently considering is this one below: http://www.autotrader.co.uk/used-car...oc-cars-twt001 It's a 2009 but has 143k on the clock... At the moment it's a toss up between these two, although I'm permanently glued to Autotrader as I sold my car over a week ago! |

It's annoying because you seem to be able to get an identically specced saloon to a touring, but the tourings seem a lot more expensive for essentially the same car. |

Must have been faulty or driver error. A 177 or 184 bhp car is not slow and if it was to the point that getting round a roundabout was dangerous and you would struggle not to be hit we might have seen it on Watchdog. The other 8000 320d drivers seem to manage OK.

Yeah all the smart car drivers seem ok aswell as they are dog slow. Iv not had a car under 220 bhp since I started driving. That mite be why I find them so painfully slow. And it wasnt driver error for record, its noy hard yo launch a car. It was that bad it was out into a facebook group called "spotted stortford" quoting. "Watching some swanky bmw driver get ditted off a set of lights by a (1.2) fiat 500 was hillarious!!!!, if it not got six cylinders its not a bmw".
All is correct apart from yhe fact I think the car was a 1.0 liter. |

I have been 'beaten' off the lights by a fiat 500 and I have over 400bhp. It can happen to any car with any driver if you are not in a hurry, driving normally and happy to let them go ahead.
I'm sure they diddn't design traffic lights to start random races in the traffic flow. If you were trying to race (why race a fiat 500) then as stated the car must have a problem. |

A 320D is obviously never going to be an amazing performance car, but I wouldn't tell somebody never to buy one! I have one and have never had an issue pulling away from the lights.
It can be a bit sluggish below 1500rpm, but only really get that if say Im in 4th and slow down due to traffic, rpm drops below 1500 and then I try to accelerate without dropping into 3rd. As long as you're in the right gear there is no issue with it at all. |

Fuck grammar, spelling, everything. OP Ignore the cylinder elitists. The reason I wouldn't buy a high miler 320d is reliability. Unless you are really lucky a 120k miles 320d is going to cost you a lot in maintenance. I'd be worried about taking the dive on that engine with that many miles already. There are plenty of threads around here about issues with 320d. I'd make sure you are aware before you buy. That said there are about 10 gazillion of the things on the road, so they are bound to go wrong. Just make sure you do interim oil changes. Every 7-8k is good. It's the turbos that need it more than the engine. First sign of trouble ditch it. WeBuyAnyCar or anyone who will take it lol. A guy at work is learning this the hard way. |
