How'z your Sirius? Mine sounds like AM Radio

I finally activated the Sirius after 2 weeks of ownership. I like the content, but the sound is really bad, it sounds a bit like AM radio, sans the static.

No sound stage, image, sounded really narrow.

If that's true, then yours sounds better than mine.

Unhappy

Same here. I had XM in my TL before and it sounded great. I wonder if it's a malfunction or not. Anyone?

My Sirius sound incredible, clear and strong...when it works. I would say during a regular 15 minute drive I probably have 2-3 minutes of "down time" with my Sirius where the radio display just says "acquiring". It is really, really annoying. No tall buildings, no mountains, perfect, clear weather. Don't understand!

Sirius sound quality sucks the big one.

Also - even though iDrive is a computer, and you'd think you'd be able to program as many station presets as you want, you are limited. So I have some of my favorite stations programmed as presets, and then to listen to the rest, I have to back out of that menu and into the categories menu to access them. That is even a bigger POS than the bad sound. It makes 0 sense.

My sound quaility is great. I also have it in my other car and at home.

I do agree about the sorry A$$ menu and the lack of being able to save more channels. At least with after market head units and even the home kit you have 3 different levels to store 10 presets in for a total of 30 preset channels. Even GMC/Chevy's built in head unit supports that.

It depends on the station. I know some of the news channels are off tv so they sound crappy. But most sound good.

i find it varies for me. I listen to a variety of stuff and some of it sounds great and some music sounds rather poor. I am suspicious they are transmitting mp3s rather than cd data, since some of the tracks sound a bit thin and hissy like some low data rate mp3 recordings.

Now, I'm glad for not getting Sirius. I'll wait until the technology gets better for car satelite radio.

__________________________________________________ __I agree that the Sirius service isn't worth the price of the BMW receiver. My fault for taking it. I also do not like the change of programing which deleted Fox News. To be fair, I think XM out bid Sirius. Nevertheless, I am looking for a way to economically equip the car to receive XM radio without having to install another antenna. Any thoughts?

It sounds pretty good for me. Depending on the station, the music you're listening to may have been recorded on old analog equip. In Phx, I've had no probs with signal loss. I'm glad I have it.
Besides, I dont pretend to be that much of an audiophile.

Need to Equalize

Mine had that AM-like sound quality until I enabled and set the equalizer. The difference is like night and day.
