Officially Joined the Fold!
Hi Guys,
Yesterday I went all the way to Devon (from Wolverhampton) to collect the car. It's a Black 2009 320D Sport Touring with 90k. So far i'm really happy with it, especially the 52mpg (at 85mph) I was getting on the way is a big improvement over the 27mpg in my previous BMW X5. I've had an e46 320CD before and the E91 is so different, it's a much nicer drive. It's on a private plate at the moment so hopefully will have my own private reg back on in the next week or so. Which is good as the rear numberplate says "Rebecca's Wagon" on it at the moment... I've already got my eyes on a cheap set of MV3s on eBay that are only down the road so possibly might invest in them. Especially as the rear tires are nearing the limit on the 17s, it would seem rude not to upgrade at the same time. Last night in the dark I was having a nightmare trying to get the USB in the glovebox to read my Thumb drive so I could copy some music over to the HDD, I read about 20 different threads with people having the same problem with no real solution, just the dealer saying "try a different USB stick". Many owners claim to have never been able to ever use this feature in their cars as they have never found a solution. This morning I got the glove box apart and removed the USB jack, instantly I could see the problem. It was basically mangled inside! It was frustrating me last night; as when I plugged my USB stick into it, it did light up and have power, so I assumed it was working, but now in the light I can see that there is no way in hell it could ever possibly read a USB stick as half of the pins inside are bent or missing. It looks like someone has closed the Glovebox with the USB stick still attached and has just totalled it. I ordered a replacement for £20 from the local BMW dealer which should be here by 4pm today, and looks like a pretty simple swap. Anyway, You've all know what it looks like, but just for good measure here's a few pics: |

Nice wagon. So how much did it cost you to buy it?

Thanks all, I'm well happy with it!
I offered the seller a quick cash deal expecting him to say no and he accepted, similar cars without nav were selling for £2k more than I paid, the seller even showed me a text on his phone from the day after I paid him the deposit, where another buyer offered him £700 more than I offered him, but like a true gent he honoured our original deal! It's got full BMSH and he has just (last week) had it serviced at BMW Plymouth. He even gave me half a tank of diesel to get me home too! I'm really pleased with the deal, but that's why I drove so far to get it! Totally worth it! I had to compromise on the heated leather seats, but it was a small price to pay! |

Nice looking car and welcome aboard.
The heated seats can be retrofitted and there was a kit for sale on here recently. Not sure if it sold or not but have a look through the classifieds as it was about a month ago now. Enjoy "Rebecca" Jon

welcome. nice car. i have the same but saloon. my usb in the glove box takes several attempts or a few more seconds to work sometimes. mines on 85k but drives like way less than that. i think prices have dropped a lot since the obd and timing chain reports on watch dog. as ours are 2009 the chances of failure are reduced. has it had the free software update for the obd? would be worth moving it also.

I picked up the replacement USB socket from BMW this afternoon, it was literally a 30 second swap. I was worried that the jack and cable were all one peice and I'd have to run a new cable up into the h/u but luckily the jack just unclips off the cable. Looking at it in these pictures it seems ridiculous how I couldn't work out last night why the USB wasn't working there's nothing left of it! It was pitch black though so I could barely even see the socket at all: Straight away it sprung into life and let me put my music on finally! Yay! Quote:

Glad you got one sorted in the end!
Also glad you managed to get a much lower mileage example than originally thought! I assume you paid abit more than the £8k mark you where originally looking at! Worth it though! |

Yeah I had to stretch the budget a little more than I wanted to, but it was worth it for the LCI model.
If I had bought the older style with the CCC Nav I knew it would bug me and I would only end up retro fitting the CIC Pro Nav, so I just thought I might as well just buy a slightly better car! |
