Service Advice Recommendations Please
Well, after 102k miles on my 06 330 my water pump finally gave out. On my way to work my heat stopped working, then I got the yellow "overheating" warning. Pulled over for a bit to assess, and then took my car right to the dealer, luckily it wasn't too far off.
Just got the confirmation call and they confirmed my water pump is gone, so that's being replaced $1200 out the door (awesome....). It gets better though, as they are claiming I need to replace my valve cover gasket and Reseal oil filter housing for an additional total of $1775 on top of the water pump. Now I've never noticed any oil leaks, but the service rep said I wouldn't and it was inside. I've never had a low oil warning either. Can I get some advice on whether I should go ahead with the valve cover and resealing of the filter housing services or just stick with the water pump? My 06 has 102k miles and is paid off, not sure how much longer I wanted to keep it, but figured the water pump was the very least I had to replace in order to continue driving. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks |

Sorry to hear your story my fellow 330i. Dealer prices are going to be high. Get a quote from Indy shop and will save at least 40% more or less.
Valve Cover Gasket is only $65.00 including bolts WP $369.00 Thersmostat $75.00 |

I'm having them do the waterpump just because I'm not going to risk driving it from there, and having to tow it to another shop is going to cost me some money. The rest I'm going to hold off on still. I'm looking at doing the oil filter gasket myself, DIY seems pretty straight forward during the next oil change.

I am sure that if the valve cover gasket and oil filter housing gasket were leaking you would be able to see traces of this.
Yep, DIY or a non dealer garage will be a lot cheaper! |

It has been 8 months since I changed oil and oil level barely went to low this week. Cheers! |
