Review: Meguiar's "Ultimate Wash & Wax Anywhere"
So yesterday I was looking at my car and contemplated whether or not I should wash it as it looked like crap. Nothing heavy at all, just plain dirty, but then I thought, "What the hell am I thinking, it's 25 degrees out!". Well, I'd bought a bottle of Meguiar's "Ultimate Wash & Wax Anywhere" some time ago to take with me to car shows so I could spruce up the ride while there. Thing is, I hadn't used it yet and figured it might be a good time to try it out.
![]() So freezing out and all I got to work. The instructions are simple, if the dirt's heavy on your car, rinse it off well before you begin, otherwise you can just get straight to it. Have some clean microfiber rags at the ready, one to wipe, one to buff and maybe a couple more if you need to replace either as you move along the cleaning process. Keep in mind that you'll want to clean the car in small sections. Spray some of the product on and then wipe it off while wet, don't let it dry(or freeze) up on your car. I didn't find the need to saturate the areas I was cleaning, but I guess that all depends on the severity of dirt/grime you're cleaning. Once you've wiped it up thoroughly, get the second microfiber rag and go over what you just did until completely dry and buffed. It's that simple! I had my reservations about the product at first, but definitely was impressed when I was done. I'll forego posting any pics of my ride, you know what a clean car looks like, but take my word for it, it looked damned nice for a car that didn't have one single drop of water on it to clean. As far as time spent cleaning, I can't say that it was any quicker then a traditional washing. However I am pretty meticulous, so that was definitely a factor. Another thing that I found quite useful was cleaning in the door jambs and sills. If you guys clean these areas as I do, with a regular wash you might typically just rely on your damp chamois to clean these areas and sometimes you'll get a haze which is just thinly spread dirt. Of course we don't leave it like that, no way, but still, that's extra work. With this product it just simplifies things; spray, wipe, DONE! Now that I've experienced the advantages of this product, I don't foresee me washing my car the traditional way again unless absolutely necessary. There's no doubt that I'll have a bottle of this stuff in the trunk of my car from now on. If you haven't tried this already I'd recommend you do. See what you think about it. Thanks for stopping in all! ![]()

Thanks for sharing - I had a good experience using Optimum No Rinse, but it isn't a spray-on, you mix it in a bucket with water due to the concentration. Did you use a different microfiber or pair of microfibers for each panel?

I just used a pair of microfiber towels for the entire vehicle. When a section of the first towel gets really filthy, just refold for a nice clean section and get back at it. Another thing to note is when you move along the cleaning process, the first towel will naturally get more saturated with product meaning you won't need to spray as much product on your vehicle as when you began. Good stuff.

Sorry...cringing when I watch this video. One grain of sand caught in the primary wash towel and you have scratches in your finish. If you are able to accept that then go for it, but coming from an owner of a BSM car, no way thanks.

Makes me cringe. First off, that car is way too dirty to safely be using a waterless wash on. Waterless washes should only ever be used if you say, drove a few miles one day and put it back in the garage. Only use it if there is just a light, minute layer of dust on the car. Ultima waterless wash is the best waterless wash out there. Those towels are don't have enough nap to be using for this application.

I was looking for closer shots, the car looks good from a distance and minimal lighting, but I'm sure in any sun and closer inspection it wouldn't be too pretty. I have a jet black, believe me if it worked like the video I'd own it.

If my car gets funky like it was when I did this, I'll take good pictures for all to see. It would be too bad for people to worry themselves away from a decent product such as this.

Been using spray quick detailers for a while. This would seem to be a safer option. I don't think I would ever use it in place of a wash. If I thought it needs a wash, I wash it at work. If it's just dusty, quick detailer. Looks like this is the same thing, but with more polymers to not scratch paint. What is the point of quick detailer again?
