performance diffuser problem?
Hi
I have the performance diffuser shown as part 2 on the diagram attached but when trying to fit it, it is not a direct fit. Gave reg no when buying and its for a 335 but looks like another part needed. Has any 1 had this issue when fitting a performance diffuser on a 335i? http://www.bmminiparts.com/DiagramVi...723&MOSP=49544 Many thanks Mike |

I fitted mine yesterday. You need two new undertrays.
If you search for the diffuser on RealOEM you can find the middle undertray. There is another undertray but its not listed so people have just trimmed the edge of it to fit. I've however got the part number for the new tray. I'm waiting on this tray to arrive to confirm if it is correct or not. |

I bought an SSDD diffuser and once the undertray had been trimmed and new holes drilled in it to take the screws, all was well.

I bought an OEM performance diffuser for a 335i and it fitted without any trimming, took me about 10 minutes.
When I asked about trimming at the dealership, they said that you only had to trim for other models, not the 335. |

As above it was a straight swap for me.

The performance diffuser for the 335i/D is a straight swop and only takes 15 mins approx to do.
Parts needed from BMW are listed below: 4. 51128041192 (You can get away without this) 17. 51122158792 (dual exit) 19. 51122158793 20. 51122167219 http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...69&hg=51&fg=17 Other parts/trimming is only required for cars that don't have the dual exit.

Hi
thanks for the info. I was given part no 214747 as shown on diagram above by h.fairbairn after giving my chassis no. Hence the confusion as to what is the right part? I have gone back to them and am waiting for reply. |

I had to do some slight fabrication on mine for the E93 330i.
The middle bit just hung there flapping about so a new hole required and all's well now Jon

For the performance diffuser you can either order all the parts as one, or they can be ordered as individual parts. It sounds like you've ordered just the one part, as shown (part no 2) in the link from bmminparts, which could be a single exit diffuser? How many exhaust cut outs are there? If there are two, and you only have the one part, you need the other 2 or 3 parts to make up the whole kit: 4. 51128041192 (You can get away without this) 17. 51122158792 (dual exit). You should have this part, and it should have the two cutouts for the dual exit exhaust of the 335i/D. 19. 51122158793 - This part when fitted to the diffuser has a central hole in the underside. You fix this with a torx screw to the central hanger (see pic below) 20. 51122167219 Note the hole in the central diffuser piece:

As hotcoupe told me when i bought mine, buy them as separate parts. It works out cheaper.
For the record i fitted mine in about 15-20 mins, no issues. Just required some extra hex bolts and metal clips, which were cheap |
