Hey guys,

I just bought a Bluetooth retrofit kit from a fellow member here (included a FZD, TCU and bluetooth antenna). I spent the last weekend trying to install it but I can't seem to get the wiring figured out. Now when it came to wiring the MOST connections, I had my doubts seeing as how the BMW bluetooth retrofit guide says one thing and posters on this forum have said another. I was wondering if someone can clear some stuff up for me, I have drawn a few diagrams to illustrate how my initial wiring looked and what I should be doing.

Now looking at my initial wiring I found out that the TCU wire resides on pin 3 of the Un-used block (used a flashlight on one end, and saw it on the other).

Here is a illustration of what the original wiring looked like:



Now here is what I believe it should look like from the BMW Bluetooth retrofit PDF:



And finally, here is what I belive it should be since we need to wire the TCU into the MOST loop:


Any help as to how to wire this thing would be greatly appreciated. If someone can tell me which one of the wiring diagrams is correct (or if neither are, what exactly I'd need to do to make it work)

I sent you a Pm- make sure you check you're active one has the red light emitting from it with the ignition on. My car had more than one wire on each side of the active one. is the TCU all plugged in otherwise and is it showing up on the nav unit. it could be that it needs coding because of the nav?

it looks like you have it right for the active block- see those retrofit instructions- page 3. is the TCU phone control not showing up at all on the idrive- if that's the case it could well be coding that's needed

Having just successfully done this, I can say that your final diagram is the correct one. You should just move the radio 'output' cable over 1 place, insert the 'tcu output' wire into the vacated slot and insert the tcu 'input' wire so that it is opposite the new location for the radio 'output' wire.

Make sure that you have the right fiber optic connector for the TCU. I had 2 different unused fiber optic connectors in my trunk. One went to location '3' of the unused junction block and the other went to location '1'. Only one of these connectors will actually fit the TCU (the one without additional non-fiber optic pins). In my case it was the connector that was hooked to location '1'.

from what it sounds like based on andy's post, you're gonna need the coding, especially because the idrive

I tried both this setup as well as a direct connection to the radio most wire for retrofitting a MULF2. I cant get INPA to identify it for the life of me. not sure whats wrong. I see the red light from the MULF come on momentarily then it shuts off.

Here is the pin config i am using for the MULF2 - taken from my Phone Prep package. Maybe its not wired correctly to provide constant power??

Black connector:

36 - brown
33 - yellow
31 - grey
19 - black
21 - clear
17 - red/green
15 - red/black
3 - blue
1 - yellow

Grey bloack
37 - white / yellow
38 - blue / white
46 - green
50 - grey/blue
