Used Tire Question

I have been looking for a set of hankook V12's to put in the front to match my rear's and found these locally. I had a bad experience with used tires in the past and told myself that I would never do it again but I'm going to check these out since they are local. What's up with the tread? Why does it have those lines going through it?

Thanks for your input tire guru's!

Those do look a little funny; check the tire's production date.

Tires last about 5 years; my friend said 8. Someone correct me on this.

I've never seen something like that as far as a tire is concerned.

I'm wondering if they were beat on at a track day while they were still new or something to that effect, which is why they were trying to get rid of them with so much tread.
