Well it was cold/damp Sunday morning; I headed across to Essex and met up with Sam (Makkan00) to make use of his many talents.

Since doing the conversion from non iDrive to retro-fitting the CIC system; I have alway admiring how the M3 clusters white lighting matches the illuminations of the iDrive screen.

This is where the talents of Sam come in. As usual he takes great care when working on your car (treating it like his own), removing my instrument cluster; dismantling it and soldering the new LEDS to the circuit board. Testing that the new LEDS worked and do many test fits when refitting the needles and collabrating their resting place.

Here are some pics and I am more than happy with finish article and just plan to source some red M3 needles next.







As you can see from the pictures, I also got Sam to activate the Digital Velocity (speedo) feature.

I did it with mine, one of my first mods buy I also got some red film for over the needles. Quite a fiddly job but well worth it when its done.

Makkan delivering as usual, never heard a bad word about him haha.

Top job Sam, I had something similar done on my last car and, after watching it in being done, I wouldn't even attempt it - excellent result though

No, when I originally purchase my car it only had a business CD/radio. Since then I fitted the double hump dash, cic unit, combox, bluetooth; 6FL (USB/AUX); 6NF and 6NR (Connected Drive using phone crade/snap-in adapters).

I was considering going the Sharpie route, but I saw a lot of people weren't happy with results, so I will try and get a set of OEM M3 needles.

To be honest removing the dash and fitting the new one was the easiest part of the whole retrofit.

I'm amazed at the amount of threads where Makkan has been to work. From what I can see they are selfless favours as well. Hats off to him

its nice to get someone who cares about other peoples property as much as his own, not something you come across these days. lost count of the number of black boot marks ive wiped off my doors when the cars been to bmw for work. sams a really decent bloke as well.

Sorry mate. Mapped 335i + alpina transmission software = lethal weapon.

I convince myself many time to buy a 335i but then ..... I love my driving license
