Yet another oil leak

Is it the oil filter housing gasket leaking or the cylinder head gasket that is leaking. Sorry for the crappy iPhone pics

The bottom of the oil filter housing is oily but could it leak that much and cause that much of a spread?

Just change your valve cover gasket and oil filter housing gasket... couple hundred bucks tops..

Once you change your clutch - do your rear-main seal

Problems solved

We are starting to see more and more of these.

In your case, It seems like is both. Get quotes from shops around your area if not DIY it. The oil hausing gasket is easier to change in our cars so therefore should be a bit cheaper, but eventually you will have to change the valve cover gasket as well.

Do the oil housing gasket first then do a wash on your engine and see if you still have a leak. If you do, then the valve cover gasket is next. Cheers!

Thanks man I checked the valve cover gasket and it was dry as a bone. I pressure washed my engine tonight and thankfully the oil is only coming from the oil filter housing so off to the dealership to buy the gasket tomorrow! Thank god it was only the oil filter gasket

I have the same problem on my car right now. The gasket on the oil filter housing is pretty much toast and is leaking. Im bringing it into bmw in two weeks, a little over $500. I was going to do it myself but im in new england and the snow makes it very annoying to diy in the winter when it comes to stuff like this, especially since you have to drain the coolant when doing the gasket change
