Best Cobb map for daily driving

So I'm just curious what you guys think the best cobb map for daily driving is? I drive my car very easily, don't get on it all that much. Right now I am running the cobb stage 1+fmic aggressive map because I have access to 93 octane here. I was wondering if toning it down a little would make more sense for daily driving. Like stage 1`sport instead of aggressive, or just stage 1 and not the stage 1 +fmic map. Would doing this increase the longevity of my engine?

I would stick to that map (stage1+agg). Its a good thing we have 93 octane, so take advantage of it. Engine longevity would be the same in my opinion.

I don't get it, why not run the most aggressive map and don't put your foot down unless you need it.

The stage 1+ mapping is perfectly fine to run as a DD map, as are all OTS maps(and good protune maps.) Under low load situations the car will see no more strain than it would 100% stock.

+1 I recelty went from stage 2+ sport to stage 1+ drive and it's smooth for everyday driving and still has the extra kick you'd expect from this tune.

yeh man I love it, I tried sport and agg but i found the car kept in gear for to long... could do the tranny flash to change this but found this map to be perfect.

I emailed cobb about the gains they said 316ish RWHP on the s1 + drive map... not bad...

I started with various OTS maps then went PTF. Great power increases and they were all pretty good for DD. But THE BEST improvement for DD was getting my TCU flashed with the Alpina B3 software. That was a TREMENDOUS improvement for DD. Very smooth in D mode. Allow time for it to adapt to your driving style.

I am running the stage 1 + aggressive map. Do you think I should tone it down to sport or drive instead? The only reason I am using aggressive is because i have access to 93 octane. I mean the power of the aggressive map is amazing too lol.

My number one concern is reliability. Is the stage 1 + aggressive map a very reliable map? I know I am pushing a lot of boost, maybe that isn't great for daily driving and reliability?

I do have another question also, and Pats brought this up earlier in the thread. Let's say I am running the stage 1 + aggressive map. If I am just driving normal and easy, then the tune isn't really in play, right? it's just when I really get on it that the tune would be kicking in. I mean most of my driving is nice, casual driving. Maybe one or twice a day I will get on it, not WOT or anything, but just give it some punch. So is it true that if I am just driving normal then the car is basically running like it was stock for the most part?

OP i'm just quoting Allen because nothing else needs to be said.

There is absolutely, positively, nothing "aggressive" about STG1+ maps. They are all in all modest boost profiles and conservative advance curves. You have access to decent octane with 93 pump, so if you are logging with reasonable frequency there is nothing to fear at all.

When you're just cruising around town, even getting into it a bit...you are putting no more "wear" on the car than 100% stock. Actually, putzing around the car is very likely happier with the cooling and flow upgrades you have provided it.

Cool man, thanks. So it's just when I really get on it that I am bringing out the tune basically. Is this correct? I don't get on it much...

Right. I mean just think about it a bit, or for fun drive around a bit with the Cobb showing live data and glance at boost from time to time. When you're just cruising around I bet you don't get into much more than 10-12 pounds 95% of the time.

This motor will take 10 psi for a millennium.

This is true. I have a question. You have seen my logs, what is my peak boost? I'm just curious. I know it went up to 18, is that a boost spike, or was that actually peak boost?

Idk post one up!

Guessing around 17 pounds peak. Wouldnt be at all odd to see a brief 18psi mark.

The OTS boost curves follow pretty similar lines, an E30 curve would look quite similar to yours. Cobb adds in more advance of course...but the boost profile isnt radically different.

One question -- Have you data logged the car? Regardless what tune you're running, if you've got clean logs then you could run a crazy kill map as your DD tune. The only thing that's going to "hurt" the motor is if you're getting repetitive timing corrections, which a more aggressive tune is susceptible to.

The tune is always going to be "in play", but it won't be noticeable until you get on it. I DD my 400 WHP+ 93 PROtune, but if I'm just cruising along you'd have no idea telling it apart from a stock 335.

I run stage 1 sport. My car only has an exhaust and I have access to 91 only. I think thats the most aggressive I can do.
