Air filter 3 series E90 LCI
How to change air filter on e90 LCI, I found this picture on forum:
Ok, I can remove these "clips" but then I cannot remove black plastic cover to reach filter, because of this "pipe": Do I need to unscrew these screw or what and then pull to left ? First remove the cable on top ? |

yes you need to unscrew this in order to loose the metal o-ring that is also in the red circle

are you just trying to replace the air filter, then you just undo the 3 metal tabs, 1 plastc tab and lift slightly and air filter will come out
if you are trying to take the top part of the air filter housing off then yes, you will eed to undo the screw/jubilee clip and unplug the connector. then will need to pull had to the left to disconnect the pipe. but you shouldnt hae to do this if you are just replacing the air filter?? |

I replaced my air filter last week and didn't need to take that MAF pipe off, just undoing the 3 tabs and wriggling it off gave more than enough access to change the filter and vacuum clean the bottom of the airbox.

For a start the power steering fluid needs relocating and all associated pipe work! Probably more of a ballache than changing the filter that's for sure! |

How often you change filters, is this normal: air filter, microfilter-cabin filter , oil filter+oil -> 9k to 12k miles gas filter -> 40k miles ? |

Personally I like to do oil+filter about 6k, air filter 8-10k, cabin filter maybe 12-15k, fuel filter about 40k as you say.

It also depends if these 6k,9k, 12k miles are driven on highways or on normal roads,city.. I personally think it's not needed to do services so often if you mostly driving your car on highways ?

I was thinking about this yesterday actually. To most extent I would agree with you, but I also think that since you are travelling at greater speed, more air is flowing past/across/into your car and so the increased volume of air will inevitably contain more dust/dirt. And larger objects such as leaves and cigarette butts (as I found on my air filter last week) will enter your airbox much more easily at higher speeds.
