Bad news! Help me out! Xenon issue!

Hey guys,

I'm sure you all know now I have retrofitted xenons!

Well on its first long journey today, the drivers side xenon is flickering and cutting in and out !

What is causing this?! Ballast on the way put?! Wiring not quiet right?!

It's not only annoying for me but for other drivers too!

Thanks in advance

Does it flicker on full beam? If it only flickers on dipped beam it could be the shutter vibrating.

I have a little vibration on my nearside shutter, as soon as the revs rise it stops.

I'd check the earth wiring first.
Then I'd swap the xenon bulbs round. If it flickers on the other side it's the bulb.
If it still flickers on the same side, I'd be looking at the ballast as the culprit.

I haven't plugged in the bi xenon yet so full beam is h7!

It's drivers side dipped beam and flickered once or twice, then dropped out totally then was fine for the rest of my 40min journey!

Ergh if it's ballasts that's bumper off again ha! Nightmare!

Strange how they work fine when stationary too! Asif vibration is playing a part!

Ahh I see.

I know it's tight as these lights are bigger/deeper than the standard halogen units.
I haven't checked but is there not room to remove the ballast in situ?

If it drops out completely then it rules out the shutter.

Check for loose connections too

Thanks for that mate!

I'll give it all a check! Hope it's just a loose connection really as ballasts and bulbs are not all that cheap ha

So you just need to code for the bixenon wire and you're all set?

Update:

This carried on happening, found it in the end it was the bulb.

Purchased a piar of osram xenarcs and problem totally gone, 3 weeks of problem free beautifully crisps xenon light driving!

Ill try and dig out the link, a company on ebay selling them.

They where 30% cheaper than anywhere else and are genuine, not the copies that are going around..

Usually 9 / 10 it is the lamp rather than the ballast unit

Good news
