Help with cobb?

From what I remember a few years ago, you have to back up/save your factory ECU setting to your computer, to go back to stock or if something happens during install
I don't want to install it yet....

When you install the AP will it download your stock ROM the AP. Then you can back up the ROM to your computer as an additional safeguard, if you choose.

I made good use of the backup ROM file which is optionally exposed and copied to overwrite the generic OEM ROM my replacement AP would have used rather than the one that came with my car.
Hats off to Cobb who replaced my stolen AP!

Thanks man, I will install it today.
Should I set the JB4 in Map 0 or 4 when I install the cobb?

I recommend removing the JB4 before install.

Personally I would remove the JB4 before flashing.

Remove it to avoid any complications with the COBB download / ROM reflash. No reason to add unnecessary complications by leaving the JB4 installed.

I am just now reading this, after installed it...
it loaded fine, but driving the car it was jumpy and hesitant and it died on the side street.
I uninstalled the AP and I had a bunch of lights on abs, 4x4, dtc, etc, it drove kinda weird, I re started it 3 times and used the JB4 to clear codes and it's now back to normal...
I think this weekend I will uninstall it.

Oh and the JB4 kept coming on...idk why.
I was in map 0, with the cobb on and I did 1 pull and it cut out at 5000rpm , the jb4 fuel/boost gauge kicked on and I checked I was in map 4
So I will have a Jb4 g5 for sell next week

It is possible to check your ROM with a BAV tool. However, sometimes the BAV tool displays the incorrect ROM revision so it's more of an indication than a 100%.

Inpa page also will tell you whether 8a0s ije0s and so on too. But why do you want to know? Provided you're not post 2012 (which is a physical comms limitation) most versions are supported and/or of unrecognised Cobb will get you to send a dump of an unrecognised ROM and they'll work on it and add it as a bets download. Mine was the first UK COBB that i imported privately before non-US was officially supported and COBB turned around in two days.
