I'm sorry to say I'd like to ski off the roof of your car. That's some lovely champagne powder.

I'd drive my BMW and make a new life in a place where that shit doesn't happen.

Pouring hot water down a cold windshield is a good way of having a lot of shattered glass in your back seat, along with the snow you were trying to get rid of. OP just clean what you need, and wait it out. Its not worth ruining your paint for something that you could have just waited a few days to clear..

I know that this is an old thread, so MasterWang's car is safely in the garage by now... But since it got bumped up, I thought I'd remind folks in cold locations about Optimum No Rinse. Instead of going to a self-service car wash in the cold/freezing temps, pull into the garage and get out the buckets and microfibers.

I have had a bottle of this stuff forever, and finally used it when my window regulator failed. I was really impressed.

I would just brush off the snow first and if the ice is thick on the car leave it (the defroster will deal with the windows); let it melt naturally...or go park in an underground lot for a few hours then go to car wash. Do NOT scrape your car.
