CCC Software update - Slough/Maidehead

Hi
Does anyone know where I can get my CCC software updated for a reasonable cost?
Local Stealer is quoting £255.00

I know it can take a while but I wondered if anyone knew of any better deals relatively nearby.

My car is a Nov 2006 e92 if that makes any difference.

I can't fit an ipod kit or aftermarket ipod player to my Idrive unless I update the software for my idrive.
I'm sure there are other improvements too, but that's what I'm trying to achieve.
The dealer quoted £269 for an ipod kit, but an additional £500 to fit it and I'm sure most of that cost was to update the CCC software.

I know.

I pm'd him a while ago and he was extremely helpful.
This is an issue with the BMW software and not coding though.
He may, or may not be able to find a workaround through coding, but I'd like to get a belt and braces solution.
I also like the idea that my car is running on the latest software, in the same way that I keep my PC software up to date.

I can't help it, I'm a self confessed anorak.

I looked at getting a iPod/USB interface fitted to my CCC before and was shocked at how much it cost and how crude the interface looked afterwards (CD changer interface).

If your going to spend nearly £700 why not get a CIC retrofit that comes with USB for music loading anyways....not sue how much iPod interface for CIC is though (or how hard it is to do).

I don't think £700 is justifiable to connect an ipod, not for me anyway.
I love the idea of a retrofit CIC, but my first priority is upgrading the existing speakers & adding an amp.

I've decided on a Gladen/Mosconi upgrade, so I'm now just looking for the most cost effective way to connect a digital music source with decent sound quality.

Makkan has just started offering flashing of modules/units, there's a recent post somewhere. I'm not too far away (Windsor) and need my CIC updating as well so interesting to see if you find someone/somewhere!

Guys CCC are very fragile when flashing and dies easily. Hence I stay away from CCC and flash only CIC (much better in all aspects).

OP, I am not sure why are you going to dealer to get shafted.
There is OEM BMW ipod retrofit kit available in classified for only £125!

I wasn't really considering buying the kit from the dealer. I only asked them for the costs as a negotiating tool to try and get the software update cheaper.
Sadly they saw through my cunning plan.

Maybe I should up the stakes and tell them I'll be looking for a new car in 6-12 months but I'm concerned that the costs of keeping BMW software up to date could sway me towards another manufacturer.

Not all the software updates are as useful as you think.
If its engine software or gearbox, I would go for one. Rest of the modules, I will leave them alone unless they are a part of package.

I have updated all the modules on my car and only engine module made me feel that there was a slight difference. And CIC update is purely to make it compatible with combox.

I thought that my CCC needs to have a firmware update to make it compatible with the ipod kit?

On one side you say that you do not want the ipod kit and you just wanted to upgrade it for your satisfaction. And then you still ask the question if CCC update is required for ipod kit....

Sorry, you misunderstood my post, or more likely, I didn't explain it very well. I do want the ipod kit, or some way of connecting a digital device, but not at the cost quoted by the dealer.
I'd rather buy the unit advertised on this forum at a much more reasonable cost, but I'd like to make sure my CCC unit is compatible with it first.
