Hit by ice block on the highway - need help from expert

Hi

A stupid truck driver didn't cleanup his truck before driving on the highway and he lots a huge block of ice in front of me. I have been able to avoid the 5 x 5 feets block but it the 2 x 2 feet. The block was hard and 8-10 inch thin. So I hit it with my front bumper and the only damage I got is a set of scratches.

Today I tried to remove them with my PC, Yellow LC cutting pad, Menzerna FG400 and it didn't work. So I tried to wet sand with 2000 and 3000 grit and it didn't work.

When I touch the scratches, I can not really feel them so I wonder if the scratches could be internal, at the paint level, under the clear coat.

This bumper have been repainted by BMW Collision center 2 years ago at OEM specs.

Bumper:

Stupid truck driver:

NB: I called the police to arrest this guy. There were another huge block that would fall and could hurt (or kill) somebody.

you said in original post that those scratches are under clear coat, I don't think so...........................clear coat is on top of the paint and then paint is top of primer,so how it is possible that ice scratched paint before it scratched the clear coat ????
it should have scratched clear coat first then paint then primer
are you sure it didn't scratch the clear coat before it scratched paint?

looks like a paint stress crack. Paint has cracked but not the clear coat.

Unfortunately, those are hair-line cracks. Most likely internal where there may have been body filler or primer.

if you have already wet sanded it with 2k/3k and buffed and that did nothing you are most likely looking at a re paint.

if you have a professional detailer in your area have him take a look, have hit measure and see how much clear is left.

than id try to wet sand + buff again, (if the pro says it can be fixed without re paint) and go at it again.

The worst you could do is ruin it, which....sad to say, it most likely is.

This is exactly what I will do at spring.

Scratches look worst on picture but they are not too visible in real. Worst case, I will let it like this.
