OG Racing is where I got mine from. If you can do it, go into the shop and try them on. If it's not possible, just measure your head the way the manufacturer suggests once you pick a particular brand. I have the HJC Si-12 and love it.

IMG_3823 by Evolvet5r, on Flickr I just got a Simpson XBandit directly from Simpson's warehouse in LA. It was a floor model so I bought it for only $250 ($600 MSRP). I would suggest going to a local store and trying them on because all helmets are different and all sizes within each helmet are different. -Mike |

Try out at local store, and then pick a site that offers free shipping (or over $99), i.e. OG racing, safe racer, etc.

Make sure you get one marked SA (means it's flame resistant, unlike M or Motorcycle helmets) and it's at least a 2005, but preferably a 2010: so you'll look for SA2010. About 10 years after manufacture is when a helmet is considered out of date, and not allowed on the track...don't wanna have to replace yours in 2 years. And get a full face...preferable with a visor...all these will be required for anyone who wants to race, in case you really get the bug and decide to go that direction. Or if you sell it down the road, a racer would be able to buy it. And get/use a balaclava...it's MUCH easier to wash those, then clean the sweat from your helmet. If your helmet feels a touch too big, get a double layer balaclava...problem solved. (Works for me).
Good luck autoxing...try a HPDE one weekend.

I am looking for a helmet too... I was thinking of the Zamp FSA-2 for $170 (since I won't be doing too many events) and it is SA2010 and can be easily found at Saferacer and Raceday Safety with free shipping in USA.

Simpson Bandit for around $300 from Amazon. Looks like the prices went up a bit since my purchase.

Check out soloperformance.com too - I just picked up a Zamp RZ34 from them. It's a tad tight based on the measurements from a large, but fine for AutoX runs and track time; SA rated. No complaints so far (except that the Snell sticker is under all the lining and a pain for tech) - otherwise it's cheap and protects the mushy bits up top as well as the next bucket. I didn't see the need to pony up for a Simpson sticker if autocross will be the majority of it's use
