What Service is Required at 100,000kms?

I'm very close to hitting 100,000kms (60,000 miles).

I'm also due for an oil change soon. I was wondering what the recommended services are at my mileage. Spark plugs, coolant, etc.??? I'll be asking about the walnut blasting service as well.

For the 335 I believe I've read you should do plugs every ~40K. Make sure to use RealOEM to find the correct plug part #'s. I was able to get my NGK's at Advance Auto and got a coupon to help out with the cost. Coupon like this one…

I'd definitely do them if they haven't been done. Walnut Blast seems popular. If you have a manual, maybe not a bad idea to do MT Fluid flush. Diff Fluid Flush, brake fluid, coolant, power steering fluid, all those should be changed if they haven't been.

Look up the old school BMW maintenance guide, especially if you plan to keep your car long term. Just Google it.

I have a 328i sedan with 54K. I'm getting ready to do my power steering, diff and mt fluid here soon. Did coolant/brake fluid about 7K ago and my plugs about 10K ago

I just spoke with a BMW service advisor and they mentioned that most of the fluids (power steering, MTF, diff, coolant) are lifetime fluids and they don't need to be replaced.

He only suggested that I do the regular oil/filter change and potentially spark plugs. He also mentioned that he's never heard of someone requesting for a walnut blasting service unless the car is throwing a CEL or something like that. He also mentioned it would be about 6-7 hours worth of labor and their rate is $120/hour. Hmmm....

Lifetime fluids?!?! HA!

I think you may want to look for a new service advisor, especially since he has never heard of the walnut blasting procedure.

Lifetime fluid is a LIE. Well, its the life time of the vehicle xD so they might expect the tranny or diff to blow up or develop difficulties and problems before they do it.

SAME goes for walnut blasting and cleaning of the intake valves, just DO IT. You'll feel the difference. HOWEVER, I don't know why in Canada, the dealer charges an arm and a leg for that service (always $1,000+). All direct injection cars need to get their valves cleaned and 335i is notorious for gunking up. I do mine every 35-40k km. I am blessed that i can simply drive to seattle from vancouver and get it done at the US dealer for around $400 taxes in. See if there are any Indy shops that provides that service for cheaper.

So you're on the right track, do your sparks plugs (if you havent at around 70-80k km), all fluids - Tranny, engine, diff, power steering, brake/clutch fuild, coolant (oem or not, doesn't matter, just change em), alignment (if you feel like there is a need, check your tire wear and see if its needed), check your brakes, do walnut blast/intake valve cleaning (walnut is always the proper way of doing it).

I'll take your advice and not the service advisors. I would definitely feel more comfortable knowing that my car is running on fresh fluids...

The only trouble I'll have is looking for somewhere that'll perform the walnut blasting and leaning of my intake valves.

ya... walnut blasting is a pain in the butt to get a good deal out of. Many more options in GTA, but in GVA there is basically none besides going to the states. For you in Ottawa... good luck. You might have to go back to the dealer after all, but it is a very very important job to be done, keeps your engine clean and better intake flow. Don't want those turbo's suffocating now do we? xD good luck!

Look into the user manual of the car. I think Inspection 2 (the more complete one) is what you should have. Brakes and oil are probably going to require attention soon (they are condition based, in-dash notice). Brake fluid is every 2 years. Coolant replacement may be a good idea depending on age.

I just ordered everything for a service, all fluids filters including a k&n air filter and some oem gearbox oil, I have no ramp so will probably take me all day but im hoping to see a big improvement in mpg and general performance. What exactly does the walnut blast do and how is it done? My swirl flaps have been blanked already
