Question Why haven't you bought a F30/31 (yet)?

Other than the reason of cost I'm interested in People's reasons why they haven't got a F30/31 yet please? Is the E90/91 "better" for instance - why?

Just seen a few nice msport f30's over the last few days and they have caught my eye now, wasnt too sure on them at first.
Im not a great fan the the 5 series shape though, the previous looked alot tougher, and the f30 and new 5 look very very similair to me theres not enough difference in them.
Its not price keeping me out of buying one but the kids (girl 4 yrs, baby boy 3 months) once the boy can get homself in a car i want a late e93 just obviously not suitable atm

Had one as a courtesy car over Xmas. 320d feels so much quicker than the e92.

Only reason I don't have one is I can't afford yet

Will be a 420d m sport for me in a couple of years

Waiting for the LCI... If I bought one now I'd only be changing it once the LCI came out. The E90 in some respects is slightly better. The dash for instance in my opinion is better finished in the E90. Start/Stop does my head in too on our later car.

Because until I win the lottery, I will never buy a brand new car. The F30 is lovely, but I actually prefer the F10 so when I change, I may well go in that direction.

F30 is lovely, but BMW has ditched the in-line petrol 6 and for someone like me who likes a manual 'box, they've ditched that on the 330d. Not good. Great for emissions, but not god the driver. Might get an M3 in a few years time mind you. So long as it's manual and not DCT.

I really don't like the dash for two reasons; The iDrive screen looks like an after thought and the cup holder/tray arrangement.

Actually now ive looked at the interior the dash looks like a merc, the screen stuck on instead of integrated in the dash, looks cheap in my opinion

Iv had the pleasure of owning a E93 LCI. And also borrowing a family members F30 for a 400 mile trip

Reason why I didn't upgrade was because for some reason the f30 seemed more cheaper then my E93 ... The shape of the seats ... They don't look that great ( might be bias as I have coral red).

Another reason why is that although the F30 are a good looking car ( especially in Estoril blue with xenons) they still are growing on me. I still don't like them compared to the E9X models. I don't know why people order then without xenons though

Finally the layout of the dash is better on all E9X models in my opinnion, I don't like the way the new sat Nav is but I guess that's a major change on all models 3,5,6 and 7 series

Ps they are so similar to the new 5 series from behind it's hard to tell which model. Few weeks ago on the motorway seen a 5 and a 3 series in two lanes Side to side and the looked similar from behind

But have to say the E60 5 series ... Now that's a beauty even now they don't look out of place

I have bought an F30. There are deffinatly things the E9x does better. For example I went from an E92 320d LCI Sport Plus coupe, to an F30 335d M Sport. The E92 is such a pretty car, the F30 is handsome, but not as striking IMHO.

The seats look better in the E92, but the driving position in the F30 is MUCH better.

Last thing is the steering feel is so much better in the E92, the F30 is not BAD but not as good as the E92.

Apart from that, I prefer the F30 in every other way. It is more an evolution than a revolation, but IMHO it is a better car, by a margin you would expect, and that says a lot as the E92 is still a fantastic car!

Because they're still too new/expensive for me.

I don't tend to spend more than £10k on a car, so until my choice of model (if I decide to stick with a similar-but-newer BMW) depreciates into that price bracket I won't be buying one. I don't have anything personal against the F30 although to be fair I've not looked at one in that much detail yet.

I have had a new car each year since 1997 with quite a few options each time. I did consider the F30 335D MSport as an upgrade to my E90 - lovely motor indeed and here are my reasons not to buy:

* Driver feel of being connected to the road did not seem as solid as the E9X
* Sat Nav definitely looked like an after thought (why did they not integrate it or make it removable, so one could use as a tablet or something?).
* Dashboard material did not feel as being put together properly and yes, I did check other similar vehicles.
* The seats looked lovely but upon sitting in them, they felt rather cheap.
* The distinguishing features (such as rear lights) between the 3 and 5 series have been reduced significantly (but this is less of an issue for me at this stage).
* Affordability - I am not keen on getting back such low residuals and then paying over the odds for another new car.

These are just my opinions and I am sure the car will grow on me but I have my eye on another motor brand and a very slightly larger vehicle.

Best of luck with your choice.

I love my e92 with the heavy steering feel etc.

The diesel was scary... test drove that and it went to a blink inducing 3 figure speed without even knowing it! and to get that amount of mpg from it... wow wee! thats an achievement but still bland to drive... like the interior though so pros and cons I guess.

What diesel did u test drove mate?
