Question Are these signs of a bad blower, or something else?

This has been ongoing for a few months, and I've basically ignored it because I've been busy with other stuff. Now it's on my mind and bothering me.

My blower (the fan for the vents) intermittently makes a squeaky sound at all fan speeds. It seems to happen more when turning the car. So I initially thought it had to do with the power steering, but I really think sound is from the blower still. Sounds kind of like a harddrive running, or a CD player skipping.

So fine, it squeaks - I'll oil it and assume it needs to be replaced *sometime*...but what has me confused is that it also randomly cuts out - sometimes when I'm braking at a red light it will cut out for like 1 second and come back up to speed.

Is this typical of a failing blower on these cars? What are the symptoms or the resistor pack failing? Does this sound like a different problem to anyone?
