Servicing in Sydney

Gents, I require a 50,000km service on my 335 MY09. Previous owner serviced it @ Northshore BMW however there was no service stamped at 40/45,000km mark therefore I am unsure if it was done or if someone had reset the service light, so am wanting it serviced for my piece of mind. I also checked with North Shore BMW and they do not have a record of it.

I am wondering if anyone could possibly recommend someone (who isn't a stooge) on the north shore to carry out a pretty basic service on my car and not try and sell me some fuel injection bs well priced, well qualified, standard shit.

I need front pads and discs shortly too so would like to start a bit of a relationship with a workshop to look after my car.

Also, my car was a late 08 built (first of DCT), can someone tell me if I have still the old twin turbo setup or just the twin-scroll single thumper?

Appreciate the help on this one.. I also did do a relatively small search and didn't manage to find anything specific on this.

Thanks, Ian.

Hi Ian,

Does your engine look like this?

If so, you have the N54 engine which is the twin turbo setup.
The N55 would have 'Twin-Power' on its engine cover, which is the twin-scroll single turbo.

You have the N54 twin turbo. Much better than the twin scroll single turbo N55 engine for tuning if that's your thing. The twin scroll ain't the thumper, it's the N54.

Thanks guys.. Now the service part, any recommendations there? I don't mind going back to North Shore BMW - unless someone does recommend a cheaper/better alternative.

I recently went to European Autotech at Mona Vale. Spot on. Service was bang on at a reasonable price. Good communicators. Very professional operation. Actually changed pads to Akebono ceramics. Don't feel any different to me and my wheels stay relatively clean. Stayed with the solid stock rotors.

Nearest Indy to Northshore BMW is Greg @ Peter Mabey Crows Nest... a stickler for using BMW parts and takes his BMW servicing VERY seriously... tell him David who drives a manual recommended him.

I've been seeing him since my E46 days and haven't found anyone better (including BMW itself) in the lower North.

i would strongly suggest you get the brakes looked at, the shudder you feel under medium to hard braking is most likely a warped left (mmmm could be on the right now) rotor. plus your brake sensors are not working. go see Pete at Advan, yes i know its a long long way but he makes a really good coffee
lol !!! I think i roughly know the history of the car too :P
