RB turbo's with a 50 or 75 shot of nitrous? Just curious if it would be possible to achieve that much power or am I talking crazy? since RB's/Vargas stage 2 are already making over 500whp

I wouldnt risk even trying with the small exhaust/turbine section. EGTs and EGP would be extremely high.

Wouldn't bother with le nitrous on a stock frame setup. Like ^ this man said- you'll smoke something.
But yea you could make the power for a glory run.

I agree with 3000GT MR, and am not even sure you could make the power in the first place. Can the RB's even push enough air for that power level to keep safe AFR's with that effective octane?

I'm sure there are plenty of guys who push over 500whp with RB's, but they are running Ethanol for cooling.
It's definitely doable, but likely more prone to something breaking considering those small twins are hybrids, but not meant for that kind of abuse lol. |

I believe someone hit around 500/500 on stock turbos and n2o, I'm sure if you didn't mind diminishing returns then you might be able to squeeze 550.

I suggest looking at other forums and having a conversation with someone that goes by the name of "georgesmooth." Hes from S. Africa and was running RB's with nitrous many moons ago. If it wasnt for his auto trans grenading, he would have probably cracked 550 easily.

The motor should take nicely to nitrous, didn't someone at AR Design throw some nitrous at the N54 with nice results? A few folks have done small wet shots.

Since our turbos spool up instantly there really isn't a need.
On a larger ST I can certainly see a shot helping them off the line.

Good point, not like the stock frames suffer for spool. Someone with a 6466 or GTX35 needs to see what a medium sized wet shot would do for spool.

I ran a kit on top of the RB's . Over 550whp (1.4mm jet and 1.2bar) the exhaust housing is to small to expell the gases and boost starts to creep. In my case I was getting in gear slippage on the auto with a 1.2mm jet and am still waiting for a transmission solution to hit it again.
We dialed down the kit to a smaller jet and 500whp (RB's max out at 480 at me altitude) and the my box was still slipping on the gear changes. The issue is the tranny doesn't see torque produced due to the algorithm not taking the nitrous flow into account. This is my theory because without the nitrous and at 500whp and more torque I get no slippage.

Hi George,
I have done a shit load of study on the gearbox, including contacting car DME programmers in India to see if they could help out... The TCU encryption is just to heavily encrypted at this moment and the costs for the appropriate tooling will be around 5000 - 10000k euro to start hacking. So waiting..... I was in the same situation and a ZF mechanice took a deep dive into my box. What we noticed was: - When the box oil ever overheats above 100 degree celcius your internals (plates) are more or less shot for life due to the fact that the oil is not longer working at that moment. - You can dump the complete TCU history / KPI and this will give you a pretty solid view on the cause of the damage ( I bet oil overheating resulting in progressive wear) -When the plates starts slipping the damage is already done, you will need at least new plates - My box was slipping after 100k km's. But when we took the box apart the gear 1-5 especialy 1-3 were literarily gone. It seems that the TCU can compensate quite a bit of wear - With the rigth contacts it should be possible to rebuild the gearbox for about 2000-2500 euro's. Given that I did 80k km''s without noticeble damage this seems to be the best route. - When warming up the car, your gearbox temp is about 20 degrees celcius behind your engine temp. This means that you need at least a 5 minutes longer warmup on a cold start after the engine is a 80-90 degrees. (This and the procede launch control which I tried twice cause most damage, although having a burned down 5 gear indicates wear caused due to high load, (Track / Autobahn) but gear 6 was pretty good in shape (Constant driving with sufficient cooling) Long story, the ZF engineer adviced to rebuild with standard parts, upload the alpina software and add serieus cooling. As long as the oil is ok your gearbox will do a pretty good job. For the TS: I did 100k with my RB's... big difference with stock, more torque, crazy amount of power between 5000 and 6500rpm. No experience with ST, but the RB's are in great balance with the car, it transforms the car from a fast car to a kind of sportscar while keeping things very driveable...

I have had the Alpina flash on the car from 2009.
