Dinan tune on N55

I'd like to hear from people who have a Dinan tune (any stage) on their E9x N55. My 435 just started production and I'm hoping Dinan will have a tune for the F3x in the not too distant future. I'm considering the JB4 but, I'm too nervous using this great tune on my $55k car without possible warranty concerns. PPK is a safe bet but it's simply too weak; the N55 has much more potential.

The Dinan stage 2 software for the e90 cars was only marginally more powerful than the factory PPK at 3 times the price. Dinan never lived up to their power claims on independent dynos. Their tunes are smooth and very 'OEM' feeling.

Terry and the boys are working on cracking the electronic boost solenoid that the new F cars have. Until then, only map 1 with its 12.5 psi will work. Which is fine for me since I'm not doing any mods (leasing). Even map 1 will get you around 40whp (93 octane) right?

If you're leasing, the PPK is a no-brainer. Order it with the car, they install it at the port and it gets residualized into the lease so you only pay for about 40% of the tune. Paying for less than half of a factory tune beats paying $2000 for a tune you will give back.

Think of it this way: Dinan tune plus install on a 36 month lease works out to about $60 a month. That money could get you very close to the monthly on some much better cars than an F3x 335i.

My buddy had dinan on his car and it wasn't enough.
He even went as far to pay to remove dinan since stacking dinan and jb4 wasn't working correctly.
Removing jb4 is easy for warranty work.
I wouldn't recommend dinan it's over priced and underperforms

And you can remove the JB4 when the lease is up and sell it.

My dealer says it (along with the PE) is partially residualized if port installed. Unfortunatelly, it's still not available for port install in his ordering software, nor is pricing (435i/xi). My car should be built by this week/next week. Not looking too promising.

I am in a similar situation as you except, I have my 335 n55 which I still have a warranty on and I am planning on extending my warranty so i'm not sure what to do.. I have the oem ppk installed but to be honest it doesn't feel much different from stock.. I always drive my brothers 335 n55 literally same car as mine so I know from experience that the ppk isnt worth it.. and I have spent some time looking into the dinan it's ehh not worth that price. sometimes they have discounts up to 30% I saw once .. anyway I am finally warming up to getting a jb4 and just learning everything there is to know about it. you could always remove it and clear codes including tuner or shadow codes.

I completely agree. The car is a completely different animal with the full PPK package and warranty is full. Cost effective for something from BMW.

Just saw on YouTube!!

Dinan actually testing the BMW PPK and the numbers impressed them. 336bhp and 377lbft torque. Always liked my PPK but am worried about warranty. I so want the Cobb or JB4 but worried something will go wrong with my car and I'll encounter issues with dealer.

There aren't any issues with the n55. Get the JB4 and save yourself some money.
