You're right ... I've seen that guy before. He is insane. Wish I'd seen this vid last week. I wet sanded for the first time last week on the lower front plastic after spray painting, and was nerrrrrrr-vous. I did something similar to his technique but not the polisher and not as sophisticated (2000 wet sand and a very mild abrasive polish, Zaino All In One, that was hand done) to smooth out the texture of the aerosol (didn't really work). I was a virgin and hesitant to wet sand too much, but the spot and lower rash are something only I'd notice. OP - if you have a similar spot on the lower front where you could experiment and no one would notice, you might try the above technique to experiment before you try it on your hood.

On my spot (about 12 inches by 4 inches), I was hesitant to apply too much aerosol touch up paint because the surface was vertical and I feared running paint - so even though I did 4 coats of paint and 4 of clear coat, the surface texture was not what I wanted. And then I found out unless there was a natural stopping point, you've got to do the entire surface until a natural stopping point because taping off will cause edges...

But OP doesn't have that issue -- so I'd follow the above vid and see what happens but experiment first on a spot no one notices to get your courage up...
