E90 LCI 320d N47 - engine temp
Hi guys,
I own a 2010 320d N47 auto. Lately there have been some low temps where i live and noticed that my engine temp doesn't get up to normal operating value anymore. As far as i could remember, the past winters, even in less than -15*C, the temp would eventually go up to ~88*C. Now, at -14*C outside, the temp would not go above 70*C. Today was a bit warmer, -2*C and basically the same behaviour: it goes up to 60*C quite fast, then slowly increases to 70*C, after which it stalls 70, +/- 4 degrees. If i turn the cabin ventilation OFF the temp quickly rises by 10-15degrees, to about 85-86*C. These are all values for city driving. When driving outside the city, at ~60mph, the temp goes up to ~86*C by itself. I tried heating the engine the most i could, after which i put my hand on the hose coming out of the thermostat and going into the radiator and it was cold. The radiator was cold as well, so i guess the main thermostat is not stuck on open. Any ideas? Is this behaviour normal, or do i have a problem?

Are those temps for city, slow speed driving, or for motorway?
While driving home from work today i noticed the temp rose up to 86*C and the car started the regeneration. Engine temp went up to 93-94*C. Outside temp was -5*C, only slow city driving. After the regeneration finished, i noticed the temp would be fully stable 88*C, just right. I think i was worried for no reason
