Fog Light Lens Restoration

Just picked up the 3M Headlight Restoration Kit and tried it our on one of my fog lights. Took about 45 mins to tape off both fog lights and headlights and headlights and then to go through the 5 step process on one fog light. Pics below. Didn't think it was going to turn out well until the rubbing compound was applied so may go back and do it again if the other turns out better.

Nice, I've been looking for something like this for my fogs as well. What did it run you? And where'd you find it?

I got it at Autozone and it cost $19.99 for the kit and $8.00 for the 3M Automative Performance Masking Tape. The other side turned out better after spending more time on the first 3 steps and positioning the sanding disks towards the edge of the foam pad. Will go back and repeat the last 3 steps on the right side to improve it.

Those are for an e90 not e92 and plan on doing the headlights also so one kit can do probably 2 cars, fogs and headlights.

Def worth it. Make sure you get the tape which doesn't come with it. I would have scratched the @&$? out of the bumper if I didn't tape it off first.

Nice job OP

I would pull the bumper off and remove the lights so its easier to work with. Its a 15 minute job after you've done it once. It makes it so much easier to get full coverage on the light with out risking damaging the bumper, as its nearly impossible to get the edges while on the bumper. Another tip, don't over saturate the sponge when working with the compound. When you use too much it reduces the "cutting" effect. Keep the drill at a high rpm and make sure you wipe off the residue between each application.

I've used this kit with great success:

Was considering one that would use the drill but then went with one that didn't use the drill. Results were good hand sanding and buffing all though I will say the material of the lens was pretty soft so it was fairly easy to get through the scuffs and pitting.
