White led Sidemarker lights legal in Illinois?

So I have a pair of led white side marker lights that I got for free. I've heard that white turn signals were illegal a while back and never installed. I want something different and was thinking about installing these. Are they legal? Can anyone chime in? I rather not give a cop any more reason to pull me over.

They are not legal anywhere in the U.S. It's just not enforced.

I got a ticket back in 07 for this. He said its so bright it looks blue. I'm like listen I have the packaging and it says white. He goes its illegal regardless and gave me a ticket for it. I showed it to judge at court and he reduced my fine and he said its still illegal to have those lights.

It was a non moving violation like a front plate ticket but at that time I was young and every buck mattered to me lol

Illinois vehicle code
Article II (Lights and Lamps) - Section 12-208 Signal and lamps

The lamps showing to the front shall be mounted on the same level and as widely spaced laterally as practicable and, when signaling, shall emit a white or amber light, or any shade of light between white and amber.

So, maybe due to the blue-ish color. Stay with amber just to be safe...that being said you would think the judge is familiar with the Law. Cops, not so much.

Some additional...

Front/Side of vehicle: amber or white only
Rear: amber or red only

I was given a casual verbal warning by a cop who had pulled into a parking lot behind me. When I put on blacklines I just swapped in the socket assembly that came with the car so the clear turn signal bulbs showed white and not red through the lens of the stock tail light.

I put in those stealth bulbs that have a chrome-ish finish that illuminate amber

I had these on my 911 and never had any problems. I dont run a front plate on either of my vehicles and never have. The only thing I have ever been pulled over for in Illinois is speeding or tinted windows too dark.
