Valve body issue?

Well I've got the gear light with the exclamation mark inside.. Took it to a local shop and found it was my valve body and a spring has seized up. How legitimate does that sound? Im guessing a valve body is expensive and I doubt coverage one will cover it if i take it to the dealer. What are my options? If I do take it to the dealer to see if my coverage one will work, I have to take out my JB4 and DCi and the problem with that is JB4 is wired/installed oddly (crimps/shrink wrap) long story... Not looking forward to it.. I have about 110Km and its an 08 335xi
