Removing Front Bumper--Headlight Washer Caps?
From what I can gather on the DIY board, the body-colored caps that hide the headlight washers snap off. Is this correct? If so, in what direction? That is, if I pull up on the cap, which side is it best to pull up from in order to get the cap to snap off? Or, is there some type of clip that has to be removed instead?
Some DIY'ers have mentioned damaging the springs. I assume these are the springs that cause the washers to retract and hold them flush with the bumper. I can see damaging them if you tried to pull the bumper off without removing the caps, but it seems like there shouldn't be a problem if you remove the caps on the washers first. Am I right? Thanks. |

Just remove the caps first, just pull them up (it is a bit hard) and then you will see the spring and how they are attached - you just unclip them and your all set!

The spring isn't part of the cap, so you don't need to worry about paint as that is a separate part.

Is there a DIY on how to remove the front bumper with headlight washers? I need to do this soon, but don't want to damage anything.
Thanks |

Yeah they talk about how easy it is to damage the headlight washers, but don't tell me how to take it off without damaging them.
Does anyone have any pictures of how they are attached and how take them off or disable them? |

I just removed my front bumper this weekend, I'll take picks of the part shortly.
My method for getting them off: Carefully pull back the cover with fingers - you'll be able to pull them out 1/2 inch or so to take a look at how it's attached. Using taped (to avoid any scratches) needle nose pliers, grab the spray nozzle and slowing pull it out. It will come out pretty easily. Once it's out past the bumper cover, grab it with a free hand. The Washer Cap clips onto the spray nozzle from the bottom. So it unclips pretty easily. Once off, release the nozzle and it will go back into it's home. Pretty easy, surprised this hasn't been detailed before. Pics of cap shortly

I used a plastic card to get it under the cap and then pulled it out slowly with my fingers. Putting them back on can be tough doing it with one hand, but be patience and you will get it (or get some help). |

Does anybody have a part number for these springs???? I took my bumper off yesterday, and stretched the springs....my buddy who is a master tech, said to simply cut the spring then insert it back onto the tab....It functions correctly now, but I would feel better of the springs were brand new....

How about removing the rear bumper sensors?
Common sense tells me to just pry it off but I am afraid it is attached to the actual sensors. Any possibility that removing those 4 little caps will damage them? I just want to wrap my car with vinyl and be sure to do a clean and thorough job by getting the nooks and crannies. Thanks in advance! |

Just posting here because I couldn't locate any replacement springs either..I did what the guy above suggested and cut the springs slightly...Everything has been working fine...It would have been difficult for me to justify getting the entire washer cover to match my replica M3 bumper and then pay for paint (which I already had to do before when one of the covers fell off randomly ($75 after paint just because a silly spring)
