door compartment wont stay closed

hello, i have an e92 and my passenger side door compartment wont stay closed. somehow it loosened up so it moves in and out freely without resistance. the dealer said one of the springs is broken and it would be 1,000 dollars to replace. I don't care about replacing it because i never use it, i just want it shut because it makes annoying rattling noises when it is open. do any of you guys have any suggestions for keeping this compartment shut without putting a big ugly piece of tape across it?

what about good quality velcro on the back of it and then another strip on the vehicle and that might keep it closed and would still allow use of the compartment and the velcro would be out of sight

its a tough spot and i agree 1000$ to fix is rediculous

that could work, I really dont even care about using it at all. I would even glue it shut but i think the gap is to big so it wouldnt stick to anything if that makes any sense

This should be an easy repair. I am shocked they want to charge you 1000.
Go to realoem.com and buy the hinged door compartment folding repair kit. PN 51419135477 for $4.53 (it appears you need two)
Get yourself a plastic trim removal tool on amazon for a couple of bucks - harbor frieght for $6 if you have one near by.
Follow a DYI on the forums for door panel removal - look in the electronics section (people who swap speakers have good instructions).
Good luck!

1+ on the above.
If you can't do it, then get the parts listed above and go to any Car audio shop and they can do it in 20 min.
