Sounds annoying. On a side note, you mention kijiji a lot. Is there some reason you prefer that to Craigslist? I tried it a few years ago and there was like no one of worth on it buying anything of mine so I just went back to Craigs. Has it gotten better or something?

OP sounds like you need to stop changing the price around. I mean $200, $175, $180, then $200 again. I mean it sounds like the $20 a tire the emailer offered you was a fair price for the condition of your tires.

Can't stand when people waste your time. Just sold my cobra and Said NO trades, every email I got was for a broken beat up car asking if I wanted to trade. Or emails asking if I would take a trade. I would simply reply with yes I'll take a trade and the insert my asking price.

I am not sure what side to take. You're taking a simple negotiation process really personal. Your price shuffling showed weakness / desperateness and if I was a buyer I'd definitely back out. Also, blaming him for turning the other buyer down because you were honouring the first request is pretty nieve of you. Kijiji / Craigslist isn't the most honourable market place.

Good luck selling those tires! List them slightly high, then knock it down to give the buyer a reason to buy used. If it smells like a flakey deal it probably is!

I feel for you. I've had nothing but awful experiences selling things used so I've decided to just stop. If no one I know wants the item, it's going in the trash.

Your first mistake is "honoring" first time callers, and your email should have been short and to the point. Whenever I sell something on craigslist, whoever shows up first with cash, sold!

Craigslist isnt that big where i live. It seems as if kijiji is used more..not sure why

I get what your saying but I wanted to do it the fair way. I always try and give the first person who was interested the first shot so its fair. Same as if someone was selling something on here and you were to email the person first wanting to buy the item and and someone else emails them after you and they get it. I am pretty sure you wouldnt be to happy if that happened. Thats how i usually think of it. Everyone has a way of doing stuff...

Well like I said in my first couple of lines, if you have nothing good to say, then please save it. I understand where you are coming from and I get how it seems were the price keeps getting moved.

I did list the fronts for 200 hoping I would get something near that and if not then ohwell not a big deal. This potential buyer was very rude all through out the emails that was sent. I did say you can take it for either 175-180. After awhile this guy didnt get that i was selling as a pair and where i lived and such forth. I told him my address twice and my phone number numerous times. After awile it was getting frustrating He was messing with me from the getgo. So yes, i did says 200 is my price, take it or leave it.

But yes, i do get your point of view and i see how your seeing it.

craigslist and other similar sites are full of flakes and idiots that have too much time to waste. There are some serious buyers out there, but you have to filter through the trash to get to the money.

There is nothing wrong or unfair about saying "first one with the money takes home the goods". You're laying out the rules. I know you're trying to do the right thing, but you're just asking to get screwed and jerked around by doing so. That being said, Craigslist is the worst place to sell anything.
