Longevity is up to par with the rest of the high-end systems. We have not had any request for rebuild since first kit sold back in 2009 or so.

If you ever need to have your Ohlins serviced, Ohlins USA would be your contact.

Agreed! So here is my final decision to be made. I have ruled out the Koni/Swift setup based on price. In Canada it ends up being the same price as I can get the KW StreetComfort's for actually so that is a no go. For all those who use a US post office and then bring them back over the boarder without declaring, I won't take that risk. Had a good friend get tagged at Niagara bringing his Bilstein PSS10's over recently. The duty, sales tax and fine for getting caught was brutal! He had to fight to get the Coilovers and now he is flagged by Canada Customs for a period of time.

I can get the B12 Kit for $1100 Canadian all in or KW StreetComfort Coilovers for $1800 Canadian all in. The decline in the Canadian dollar means we have to add 13% to the best US price. In the end, I found a US vendor on here to get me these products for pick up in Toronto at these prices.

So, do I spend the extra $700 for the KW's or is it overkill?

I re-read your background info. My leaning would be toward the B12 setup, mainly due to cost.

Thanks for your input man. I really would like the Ohlins as well but they are pushing $3k plus with install up here in Canada once you have exchange rate, duty and taxes.....

Need to make my decision by Monday as the price goes up after that as a result of the declining dollar!

Might just do rock, paper, scissors with myself to decide....lol!

I think in your case, you can attribute much of what you're spending to wear and tear replacement, regardless of what you pick. Sounds like it's prudent to replace your dampers, at a minimum. So if you buy the Street Comforts, it's spending more but it doesn't seem extravagant. Besides, it's your money and now and then you get to say YOLO.

By coincidence this week, another forum member shared with me a PM sent to him that convinced him to go for the Street Comforts. I can't share it directly but I can say the person made a very strong, logical case for buying them, over spring / damper combos.

Thanks for the input! I think I will regret not going the KW route and the extra money is nominal in the end.

In order of my own preferences: #1 Ohlins, Street Comfort, B12. Just a question if the $differences are worth it.

That's a s.hit point!

You don't track your car, so don't spend decent money on suspension??

'Hack' obviously know sweet F.A. about suspension.

Where do you think suspension does most work;

A) On a bumpy road

B) On a smooth racetrack

In fact, you can get away with 'cheap' suspension on track, far better than on the road.

Ohlins is not expensive, and the quality of damping is superb. Want excellent wheel and body control with comfort? They will astound you.

So you are saying go with the KW's and possibly the Ohlins? The absolute best price still has the Ohlins at nearly twice the cost of the KW's at $3100 Canadian. That is a big spread over a very well regarded brand in KW. Isn't that overkill on a 335? That is the price reality so your advice is to absolutely buy the Ohlins?

It's down to your budget, but for the best comfort/handling compromise, the Ohlins beats the KW hands down.

I've used and set-up KW V3's on Evo's many times and use their 2 way competition units on my race car, and they're excellent shocks, but for the road, the Ohlins are a better choice IMO. In fact a friend of mine who runs an Evo 9 with KW V3, borrowed by BMW the other day, and commented how much more comfortable my car was compared to his Evo, and I run 400/800lb springs on the Ohlins on the BM.

The Ohlins damping is absolute quality, giving excellent body control and a really smooth ride which is perfect for a daily driver. Overkill? I run Ohlins with custom springs, H&R anti-roll bars and all new M3 arms and bushes on an 07 325D E91, and it's transformed the car!

If you want comfort with a handling compromise go Koni Yellows and Eibach springs (I fitted these first to my E91, but they were too soft so changed to Ohlins)

If you want handling with a comfort compromise go KW V3

If you want the best of both worlds go Ohlins DFV
