Bushings help and what should I pay? Are they aftermarket with an aftermarket susp?

Hey guys, I was having some creaking in the rear suspension. My shop told me that it was all 4 bushings, so he said I will need to replace them and therefore need to do an alignment.

Does anyone know what I should be paying for the bushings for parts and labor? I was searching for it under suspension and I only found 2 posts, one being $800 from BMW and one being a quote of $300 for parts and labor, but he didn't end up having it done at the place.

Also, I have an aftermarket suspension, and I am a noobie when it comes to this type of thing. Are the bushings going to be aftermarket, and will I need to get the same brand? Or can I just go with standard 335i bushings?

Thanks!

Alex

Probably the rear subframe bushings. Get a 2nd opinion if you are not familiar with this shop to be safe. If you trust them then you need these:

Check my thread - assorted bushings for sale. They were on the car barely 10,000 miles- see if those are the ones you need.

Thanks. Yeah I trust him, it's a close friends dad's shop. He doesn't do foreign cars for the most part, so he is going to give me the contact of someone he trusts. I just want to have an estimate of what I should be paying so I don't get gouged.

Ok, just dont buy the flimsy stock bushings. HP Auto has a good reputation and I buy all my suspension parts form them. BTw...install might be pricey...they need to drop the rear subframe for the install.

Here are some pics from when I had my bushings replaced on my 135:

Found receipt: 6.5 hrs labor x $96 per hr

If it is all 4 subframe bushings that is a fair price. Check what bushings he is talking about though, there are a lot more than 4 of them back there.

Subframe bushings
Trailing arms bushings
Differential mounts
Front upper control arm
Rear upper control arm
lower control arm bushing
knuckle bushing
track arm bushings.

By my count, that is 25 bushings in the rear.

Yikes, Thank you. Yes I will have to find out that part. Currently he is soaking them in some sort of oil to see if cleaning them will fix the problem if they are just really dirty with salt and other crap.

He might be talking about the bushings for the arms if he currently soaking them. There is no need to soak the rear subframe bushings b/c they are crap.

So he said it is the Lower control arm inner and outer bushings. Would I be purchasing the same type of bushings as you linked above? Is this a lot less labor than the work you had done?

Thanks for the help!
