E92 325i Valve/Rocker Cover Warped - Oil Leak
Hi guys,
Only had my car for around 3 weeks therefore relatively inexperienced with these engines. Whats with the plastic rocker covers!? First noticed the problem when I saw smoke coming from the bonnet with a distinct oil burning smell. Popped the bonnet and there was a leak to the driver side of engine bay. Did a search and found the valve cover gasket is a common cause so had this replaced at a specialist, followed by an engine bay detail to remove any oil residue. Although this helped I'm still getting smoke from the engine bay but now only from the back of the engine, which gets worse when at an uphill tilt. I had the garage which replaced the gasket to check their work. They have informed me that the rocker cover has warped over time with it being plastic and now is not sitting flush at the rear of engine causing a small leak where oil is seaping out. Unfortunately for me this means another bill after already having the gasket replaced. The rocker cover alone is £350 with labour on-top, this is getting very costly. Has anyone else had this? Is there any type of sealant which can be used or will it be best to replace? |
