...yeah, yeah, I could tell you're not into reading.
..of course, of course. BMW might also hire you to supervise the whole process... Last edited by RMG; 12-27-2013 at 02:14 PM.. |

Do you have a link to the inspection camera used? What is the diameter of the camera piece?

I know this is an old thread but I did say that I would post results. I decided not to waste my money on chemical solutions so I took my car to Steve Thomas BMW in Camarillo CA to have the Intake valves and ports media blasted (walnut shell). They were not cheap at $1700.00 but they are a top notch operation. I am very happy with the results! My 335 runs stronger than ever. The hesitation that I mentioned is 100% completely GONE! Car runs like never before (since I've owned it anyway).
The media blasting is absolutely everything it is cracked up to be ![]() |

DOCTOR's PRESCRIPTION: PREVENT PLAN BELOW
I have cleaned my own valves using the DIY Walnut Blast with BMW wand and Intake Vacuum Attachment + My Compressor and HF Media Hopper.
So I feel compelled to state my prescription for gunk build-up on valves: . . 1. Agree with proper warm up process -- drive right after starting and keep RPM below 2500 until temp is 180deg 2. OCC is a good thing ONLY if you drive the car hard -- you will catch very little if you drive like a granny. (I have BMS OCC ~ OPTIONAL) 3. PCV Valve -- Change to RB TURBO Valve + Change the Flapper Tube that runs from the Valve Cover to the intake side (More important than OCC) This is a must have item. (I have RB TURBO & NEW FLAPPER) 4. Change oil to High Flash Point and LOW NOACK --( I choose RL 5W-30 at 6% NOACK) Must have item. 5. OCI is between 5-7k MAX (MY OCI is 6K with RL) + You will be amazed at how smooth the car runs when switching from M1 0W-40 , as I was. LOW NOACK = MUST HAVE ITEM 6. Top tier fuel or Bottle of Injection cleaner every 3k ( I choose top-tier) This is an Optional item for valves - You pick 7. Drive the car hard -- Oil temps at 250k for 20min at least once a week and it will help burn off deposits (Mandatory Item) 8. Meth Injection will help some by spraying a known solvent on the intake like a port injection or non-DI engines -- so this must be a good thing --- but I don't have ( A good thing for valve deposits) Doctors Advice: 3+4+5+7 = Healthy Valves ![]() |
