E92 - Looking to buy / What to look out for?
Hi Everyone,
Selling my E90 to fund an e92. I want to know what are the common problems? Ideally I think I want a 320i/325i msport with under 80k mileage, Pre facelift. Not to sure on a diesel as I only go around the town really. Any words of advise? cheers |

It's basically e90 with two doors, suspension and engines are the same.

Why not get a 335i N54 and have the ability to tune / mod for some serious power when you're not driving just around town

Ah, see that helps now. So yeah stick with a slightly smaller engine, build up your NCB and then move into a bigger engine after a couple year or so if you fancy it
![]() If it's not too much a difference insurance wise I'd get the 325i .. only because I've read (not personal experience) that 320i does have it's fair share of problems.. but again, every car can break down ... so chose wisely ![]() |

I should be able to insure some of the bigger engines as I can insure a Focus ST225. I think a test drive may be on the cards. My 320D never let me down in the 6 months of ownership but the e90 is slightly big for me plus the fact I dont need the diesel anymore.

i've owned both an 325i m sport (petrol) and a 335i convertible, both nice cars and of course the 335i was quicker but I had soooo many issues with it! Most annoyingly the wastegate rattle which isn't a cheap fix. Definitely check for this if you are looking to go this route.

Well I have no no claims and been driving 11 months and have a 325i, insurance was under a grand at 957, nothing dodgy perfectly doable. Avoid 4 cylinder BMW like the plague, I started at the 320i but after so many test drives I found it blurgh. The 325i is a great car, but I wish i got the 330i, M sport didn't effect my premiums, although later on they tried to say because it was a high line they wanted to boost the price. 6 cylinder is the way forward mate.

I don't really see the point of swapping an e90 for an e92 just for the sake of it.
Personally I'd avoid the 320i. It's a pretty shitty engine, I'd rather have the 320D. If you don't have to change I'd save some money and wait a year and make sure you get a 3.0L version if you want a car that is fun to drive. |

avoid the 320i - massive reliability issues (even a thread on here about it).
325i is silky smooth but as thirsty as a 330i/335i..
