odor at WOT
now obviously at WOT or just aggressive driving, everyone will get an odor from hard braking etc.
My question is, even if im just driving at around 80-90, or at WOT at higher speeds, i get a dreading smell, more or less of something burning (even when im not braking at all) Once i let off the gas, 30-45 seconds later the smell will dissipate. Has anyone had this problem / any solutions? Vehicle is a 2011 e90 335xi |

Automatics still have a clutch, if you're higher in mileage and have some mods to increase HP, it could be the clutch. The automatics seem to have issues slipping more easily than the manuals. Any other weird symptoms other than the smell? Is the engine revving quickly to redline but not "pulling" hard?

I bought the vehicle stock at 19k and the smell was there but not as strong as it is now.
As of now the vehicle has 27k with a COBB Protune / K&N Air Filter / BMW PE / Alpina TCU Flash I still have factory warranty up to 50k and a service apt in 2800 miles so ill bring it up to my TA I just wanted to see if it was normal with all the n55's It doesn't seem like the clutch is slipping either im not sure what it could be |

27k seems a bit too early for the clutch to start slipping.
I drive a 6MT, so I don't have much knowledge on the Aplina flash, but doesn't it alter the way your transmission works? If so, perhaps if it were malfunctioning, it could cause accelerated clutch wear? Sorry, just trying to rule out the clutch thing. Don't really have any other ideas. Maybe pop the hood and check if anything has melted or warped? |
