my thoughts on Cobb AP stage 1 aggressive

2009 335i coupe with auto trans.

Drove the car stock for about a month before installing the Cobb stage 1 aggressive last night. My car is bone stock other than the Cobb tune.

I definitely notice a big bump in torque especially in the midrange. The "g force" feeling is much more noticeable here and makes the car a lot more fun to drive. Once you lay on the gas in DS mode, you get that nice feeling of being kicked back into your seat as soon as the car downshifts. I can also hear the turbos spooling a lot more noticeably at low speeds now.

Overall I am very happy with the mid range power. It is very noticeable and makes the car feel like it pulls much harder.

However, I am not very impressed with the top end power. Feels like the power increase is dying off in the higher rev ranges. I'm thinking dp and fmic will fix this?

dp will help, but with turbo cars boost tapers down in the higher rpm. For stage 1, id expect boost to taper down to around 10-11psi above 5700+RPM

or dump some e85 in and you'll be more then happy.

Cobb maps focus on mid range power, that being said you will always be making a lot more power in the midrange that is why a lot of people shift around 5500-6000 rpm.

Chances are you are still are making more power up top then the stock tune. The problem is the turbos are small and limited. You get the nice mid range torque spike and as rpms rise they run out of steam. Down pipes will make the turbos come on even faster.

This might be a dumb question buttttt have you heard any more burbles or anything out of the exhaust or anything else louder with the tune? I'm guessing maybe turbo sound but any exhaust note difference? Thanks!

Exhaust note definitely sounds a little different tuned vs. Stock. Nothing huge, just sounds a little more aggressive.

You'll have to get DPs for the burbles. I was looking for the same thing for a while. Catless DPs and golf tee mod will get you the sound you're looking for. I then put a remus race exhaust on and it has a lot of burbles lol.

Ha the remus exhaust is crazy. Probably sounds amazing. I'm leaning towards the BMW Performance Exhaust with possible secondary cat delete.

Ya put the exhaust on first and see how you feel. You might not want anymore sound. It's pretty drastic going from stock to aftermarket. Especially if you have catless DPs.
